Know The Causes of Hemorrhoid

September 25th, 2009

Many people have to go through this problem at least once in life. Hemorrhoids are not caused due to a single factor. There can be many reasons for this. It has been found that today hemorrhoid can be caused due to a number of reasons.

So before you begin with the treatment, you need to know the actual cause. If you can learn about this problem and understand it better you will be able to get rid of it sooner. It is a fact that almost everybody has hemorrhoids but they fail to know that till it starts giving problems.

Do you know what a hemorrhoid actually is? An inflammed or swollen vein located on the inside or outside of the anal opening is called a hemorrhoid. Hemorrhoids can be of two types, it can be either external or internal. Most of us who suffer from this problem usually have external hemorrhoids.

The most common cause of this problem is straining while you are in the bathroom. Sometimes you need to push hard during the bowel movement. At this point of time pressure is applied to veins which are in the rectum area. So to cure hemorrhoids, you should avoid applying pressure while excretion.

Make sure that you do not apply force, let it happen naturally. This will help you to avoid any problem regarding hemorrhoids. There are other factors which can lead to hemorrhoids. If you sit for a long time without any movement, it can create pressure in the veins. So it is better to get up and move after you sit for sometime.

Obesity can also be a cause of this problem. Another reason could be diarrhoea. Other causes can be having sex as well as pregnancy. Hemorrhoids can worsen as you grow old. When you start getting old the anal veins tend to become weak and hence they get irritated quick. If you want to avoid the factors which lead to hemorrhoid you need to practice some good hygiene.

Constipation is One of The Primary Causes of Hemroids

September 25th, 2009

Constipation is defined as having a bowel movement fewer than three times per week and is a fairly common problem. With constipation stools are usually hard, dry, small in size, and difficult to eliminate. Some people who are constipated find it painful to have a bowel movement and often experience straining, bloating, and the sensation of a full bowel.

A person is not really considered constipated if they do not have a bowel movement after one day. However, depending on the person, normal bowel movements may occur three times a day or three times a week.

It is a symptom, not a disease. Proper diet is probably the most single important factor in avoiding constipation. If you are not eating enough fiber rich foods it can cause you to get constipated. A diet of foods high in fiber is best.

Here are a few examples:

  • apples
  • peaches
  • raspberries
  • tangerines
  • oranges
  • pears
  • prunes
  • broccoli
  • cabbage
  • carrots
  • cauliflower
  • spinach
  • zucchini
  • black-eyed peas
  • kidney beans
  • lima beans
  • cold whole-grain cereal (All-Bran, Total, Bran Flakes)
  • hot whole-grain cereal (oatmeal)
  • wheat or 7-grain bread

You should also drink plenty of non diuretic liquids and get adequate exercise. If these measures are not effective, your doctor may have you take fiber pills or other medicines designed to treat the problem.

Hemroids are one side effect that can be caused due to straining when one is constipated. Get rid of straining and you eliminate one of the largest causes of hemroids.

So remember, constipation may be present if you have three or fewer bowel movements in a week or if the stool is hard, dry, painful, or difficult to pass. Constipation affects almost everyone at one time or another. In most cases, following these simple steps will help prevent constipation: Eat a variety of foods, especially vegetables, fruits, and grains. Drink plenty of liquids. Get regular exercise. Visit the restroom when you feel the urge to have a bowel movement. Fiber pills and powders may help relieve constipation. people with mild constipation usually do not need laxatives. However, your doctor may recommend a laxative for a limited time if you have constipation that does not improve. Some medicines can cause constipation.

Hemorrhoids Removal Procedure

September 25th, 2009

There are well over 240 million people in the world today that have or has experienced problems with there hemorrhoids. Most can get by with treating them at home with certain medicines and home remedies. However when they reach a severe stage the only way to cure the recurring problem is by having a hemorrhoids removal procedure done. This is done in order to receive long term relief.
The procedure in question is called a hemorrhoidectomy, which is usually an out-patient surgery (although some cases result in the patient having to stay overnight).  Both internal and external hemorrhoids can be removed with this surgery, often a last resort when other treatment methods have been attempted and have not worked.
A hemorrhoidectomy – or hemorrhoids removal – is typically accomplished by first placing the patient under anesthesia.  A small incision is then made in the swollen tissue by the surgeon, who then ties off the veins leading to the hemorrhoid to prevent bleeding. After this hemorrhoids removal procedure is accomplished, the wound is typically covered in gauze (or is sometimes stitched closed).  Most of the time the patient can return home that same day.
The recovery time for the hemorrhoids removal procedure is normally 2-3 weeks. In this time the patient will experience a lot of pain. Most doctors will prescribe pain medication. However almost all pain medicine will cause some constipation, so you should really limit yourself to how much you take. If you can get by with just taking a few Tylenol that would be a lot better than taking pain killers.
The success rate for hemorrhoids removal procedures is over 90% in almost all cases (i.e. the hemorrhoids never return). Around 5% of the people undergoing this procedure have reported that their hemorrhoids have returned with time.
The most commonly risks with hemorrhoids removal procedures are pain, bleeding, and problems going to the bathroom. In some extreme cases patients has reported narrowing of the anal area. This is a painful procedure. However it’s worth it if you are suffering from swollen irritated hemorrhoids everyday!
After having a hemorrhoids removal procedure performed caring for your wounds can be vital in your recovery time. You will certainly experience a lot of pain. As I mentioned before it’s best to take over the counter pain medicines than the prescribed pain killers because you’re less likely to develop constipation. However if you cant get by without taking pain killers then you want to take some stool softeners with your meals everyday.
Ice packs can and should be used two to three times a day for the first few days following a hemorrhoids removal procedure. This will work wonders to keep the swelling down during recovery.  After a few days, it is advised to switch from ice to heat sources, preferably by using a sitz bath or heating pad or blanket.  A sitz bath should be used two to three times a day to help relieve that swelling caused by pressure.  A high-fiber diet is also recommended following surgery.  Of course, a surgeon will always have follow-up directions to help ensure a speedy recovery for any hemorrhoids patient.
Hemorrhoid removal and hemorrhoid surgery can often be avioded altogether through using natural hemorrhoid treatments. Two of the most effective hemorrhoid cures are H Miracle and Venapro.
